We are concerned with the number of people using chain saws in the park.

Chain saws can be extremely dangerous if used incorrectly. Only qualified people are to use chain saws in the park.

Dead trees are not to be cut down, only fallen logs can be cut up for firewood.

While there is fallen wood throughout the park you will need to collect it yourself.

You are more than welcome to bring your own firewood.

No treated pine or other treated timber are to be used as fire wood

With fire bands in-force this week it is a reminder that campers should check the regulations regarding fires when planning their meals for their next camping trip to the park.

If a total fire ban is in place NO fires are to be lit in the park under any circumstances

When choosing a place to make your campfire please be very careful there are no overhanging trees and other vegetation which could catch fire.

We have moved some campfire circles where the campsites have been upgraded.

If you chose to burn your rubbish while camping please collect your bottles and other non burnt rubbish from your fireplace before you leave and take it home with you.

I’m sure you would like to set up in a clean campsite and have a clean fireplace.

Thank you for considering others who will follow you when visiting the park.

With the heavy vegetation throughout the park it is most important everyone who enters is fire conscious.

I spoke to the rural fire warden this week regarding them coming out for training and assisting us with reducing possible fire dangers.

He explained the Swan Gully Road section was their worst nightmare three years ago and they would not think of doing any training in that area.

We have water limitations and during the warmer weather fires will be our main safety concern.

If you are a smoker please bring a box or tin to keep your buts in your car. There is to be no ground butting of cigarettes in the park and defiantly no flicking of buts into the bush.

Campfires are for cooking. They are only permitted in open cleared spaces and under no circumstances are they to be left unattended.

If there is a fire alert contact the office immediately on channel 13.

The office will then contact drivers on the UHF channels listed on their paperwork.

The office will also sound a continuos broken alarm.

If this occurs do not try to pack up your campsite, head straight to the office.

Everyone is advised to leave through the main gate as other exits have locked gates throughout the neighbouring properties.

We look forward to safe fire season and with 700 acres we need everyone’s assistance with fire protection.       Thank you
