The Logan Stroke Clubs would like to thank everyone for supporting their BBQ sausage sizzle last Saturday.
The club raised $241 which will go towards the hire of a bus for a group outing.
We would like to remind everyone the bottom road is for two wheel drive vehicles, caravans and camper trailers which do not have 4x4 capacities only.
When entering or exiting the park in groups the 4x4 vehicles should split at the junction and travel the top road.
This reduces the noise, dust and road erosion on the farmer’s private road.
Thank you for your support |

A little rain during the week will hopefully make the creek run very interesting for the challenge on Saturday.
For your convenience the Stroke Clubs of Logan will be running a BBQ sausage sizzle during the challenge.
The clubs are raising funds to travel to Toowoomba for a stroke support group meeting with the TRUST support group. |

We have had a busy week with the heavy machinery. Brenden has been making some new tracks for the next challenge and getting trails through to where we will be having abseiling later in the year.
I have been having the campsites graded. Hopefully we will get some rain soon to help germinate the grass seeds. Unfortunately we can’t make the grass grow overnight so we apologise for the dirt on some of the sites. |

The weekend August 7th started a little windy and I think everyone decided to camp down the valley. By 9pm Saturday evening the wind died and it was perfect weather for enjoying the warmth of the campfire.
We set up Brian’s telescope Saturday evening and some of our campers were able to view the moons creators and the fantastic night sky.
One of our day trippers informed me they saw a magnificent snake cross the creek. They thought it was some type of python about two metres.
This is a reminder to us that we are camping and driving through the bush so parents please remind your children to be careful and keep to the open spaces. |

Saturday afternoon Brenden took me for a drive around the southern part of the park. It is really a pretty park with great views.
We selected another three areas which we have set aside for camping along the ridge top One has fantastic views to Brisbane. I named this site Wendy’s lookout. Hopefully we will have these sites slashed and ready for camping before the next Challenge.
We also went bush bashing and created two new tracks.
We have cleared a small climbing path on the left side of the billabong so you can now get up to the next level when walking the creek.
The annual membership cards and car stickers have now arrived |

The Logan and Beenleigh Stroke Clubs would like to thank everyone who supported their Sausage Sizzle at the challenge last Saturday. They raised $160 for their clubs.
They will be returning with another sausage sizzle at the next challenge.
We would also like to thank Christoffel Quality Meets on Mt Lindsay Highway Gleneagle for donating the sausages.
Keep watch for the date of the August challenge.
Knowing the number of entries before the day helps with organising tracks, marshals and recovery units required. Hope to see more standard vehicles next month |

This weekend we walked through the campsites and looked at other possible sites to add to the park. With all the new tracks we working on producing an updated site map which will include the ten allocated campsites. Camping is not restricted to these campsites providing the location you chose is in a safe secured area away from driving tracks and paths 4x4 drivers may chose to investigate.
May we suggest you take some time out on your next trip to the park and walk up the creek through the rainforest to the billabong at the waterfall? It is a little overgrown at the moment but we will be looking at giving bush walkers easy access past the waterfall in the near future. |

After been stuck up the mountain for four weeks we finally said goodbye to our standard vehicle Friday evening. An expensive error of judgement on the driver’s part but hopefully this experience has made him a more caucus 4x4 driver. This experience reminds everyone that weather conditions make a huge difference to the way you dive each track.
Weather wise we had a perfect winter’s weekend. After all the rain we have had the past three months the play area continues to offer some very muddy entertainment.
We have received a lot of enquires regarding the 2nd challenge on the 25th of this month so if you are intending to compete please register now.

We had fantastic winter weather at the park this weekend with no rain and warm sunny days.
Once again Creepy Creek triumphed with another car struggling to get out. After a couple of attempts from his friends Brenden was asked to supply the heavier stuff with his blue beast. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on which way you look at it his attempt was also unsuccessful when the manufactures recovery point sheered off the car and flew into brenden’s back turret, breaking the rear window. Ten centimetres lower and it would have flown straight through the car. This week we will be looking at getting a wire mesh window protector fitted. Eventually with a lot of man power pushing and pulling they were able to get him out.
Update on the stranded car up the mountain.
Saturday the lad arrived with another two friends who tried for most of the day to get him out but unfortunately they were forced to pay for the professional to get him out. Brenden and Steve from Bega Road Wrecking arrived at 2.30pm Sunday to make the recovery. Unfortunately they required the assistance of a second super recovery car to double tow the car. While we waited for the second car Steve explained to me in his opinion the car was in the worst recovery position possible in one of the toughest tracks. I said goodbye round 5.30pm passing the recovery car on my way out. So hopefully by 7pm they were able to have the stranded car back at the office. |

Hi again
Friday wasn’t looking very promising weather wise and after listening to the rain falling all night Brenden was a little concerned about the tracks he had prepared for the challenge Saturday. This was our first organised challenge and as expected we did have a few little hiccups. Unfortunately we had to change one of the sections that had been prepared but we will get to use that another time.
Overall the day was a success and everyone seemed to have had a good time. It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves watching others pushing their cars to the limits.
Kareen will be listing the dates for the second challenge on the website soon so keep an eye out for registration dates.
If you would like to volunteer as a marshal or help out with a recovery vehicle please let Brenden know. We will be happy to provide you with a lovely orange vest, a sausage sizzle lunch and drinks for the day. |

We sure have Brenden was out there again today with the grader. The mud hole was just about the size of a large puddle. Water flowing down the creek had almost filled it in with sand. But by this afternoon the play area was ready for some new challenges this weekend.
They have graded some passing areas along the entry road into the park. The handbrake hill track up to the top camping area will be a one way as he has graded another way down.
Tomorrow they are removing a lot of the lantana off the hill at campsite one and making a couple of hill climbs with great spectator viewing points |

Another lovely day for camping Saturday but once again we had wet weather on Sunday. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves playing in the mud till lunchtime when we had three very wet looking guys walk into the office to notify us they were stuck somewhere up at the back of the park.
With Brenden away from the park till 2.30pm two other 4x4 drivers overheard our conversation and offered to go back up the hill with two of the guys to see if they could help with their recovery. Unfortunately it took some time to find the track they ventured down and locate the two stranded vehicles. When Brenden returned another two 4x4 drivers also offered to assist with the recovery but unfortunately the heavens opened again and all hopes of a complete recover were lost.
Just after six pm everyone was safely back at the office minus two cars. I would like to thank everyone who offered assistance today to complete strangers in their time of need. Listening to the radio conversations I’m sure the recovery teams enjoyed the challenge. Even so I would like too publicly thank you all again for your generous offers of help |
